Rodan

“What has mood to do with it? You fight when the necessity arises—no matter the mood! Mood’s a thing for cattle or making love or playing the baliset. It’s not for fighting.”

___________________________________
PC
: Rodan
Rodan is a Leonin Monk. He has a long and storied background – much of which has faded from his own memory. He is Spellscarred and practices The Way of Blue Iron

___________________________________
Description:
Rodan is a striking figure. Nearly 7 and a half feet with a full mane of blazing-blue hair. His body fur is a pallate of exotic swirls of blue and gold. He wears a just enough of a loincloth to fain modesty when among civilised folk. He carries a flail made of cold iron with three large swinging mauls fashioned to look like baby orc heads. The handle of the fail is fashioned as a large orc leg bone.

___________________________________
Combat Tactics
:
Rodan can certainly afford to provide damage control, and loves to take on multiple opponents. He intimidates the weaker and breaks the stronger. Bloodlust can make him reckless but his enemies are usually dead before they can take advantage of the fact.

___________________________________
Roleplaying
:
Rodan is not likely to win any congeniality awards… He is brusk and brash, speaking only when he has something to say. He is also extremely loyal to any who would walk alongside him – and any slight against his pack is slight against him.

___________________________________
Objective(s):

Rodan used to want to return home to his pride in Tethmos. He replaced that objective when it became hopeless with an obsessive and unrelenting need to kill orcs. Both goals have faded into his complicated past and today he merely wants to dedicate himself to protecting his new pride – even if they are not of his kind (because he realizes that the spellscar he bears means no one is of his kind any longer).

___________________________________
Motivations and Temptations:

Rodan is motivated by loyalty and relationship. He has held great fame and glory and wealth – but today he would trade them all for a close friend. A female Leonin or Tabaxi could easily tempt and manipulate him into compromise with single sexy sway of the tail. He may also be tempted by his hatred to destroy an Orc even when doing so is in no ones best interest.

___________________________________
Relationships:

Rodan feels especially bound to Brava. Whether it is a romantic bounding or not remains to be seen.

___________________________________
Characteristics:

Traits: Brusk, Brash, but of few words
Ideals: Sometimes you can only fix things by breaking them further
Bonds: His Pride – his group over which he is ultra-protective
Flaws: Deep-seated hatred of Orcs and the Orcish

___________________________________
Background:

Rodan lived his early life in a land no one has ever heard of – Oreskos. He was a famous champion of The Savage Throne – a grand battle arena in Tethmos. It was during one such event that his life changed forever. The crowds of catpeople were going wild as he demolished the last of three opponents, a vortex crackling of blue bolts of lightining opened above the entire arena. Thousands of Leonin were swept up into the magical storm, including Rodan. He awoke alone, surprised to be alive, if only barely. Days and days crawled by as he wandered in the Tortured Lands trying to understand what happened and where he now was. His once mighty gold mane and fur forever changed to a dizzying color of blue flame and the fur on his body appears to have been colored and swirled by the vortex which carried him away from Oreskos. He has not aged since that day, nor has he experienced any sickness. He wonders if he will ever die, and somedays he wished he would.

His spellscar also gave him innate shifting ability, similar to the Misty Step spell or a blink dogs teleport ability, he can teleport to a nearby space by simply willing it. His skin became hardened as well, allowing him to take far more damage than ever before.

He somehow got caught up in the struggle against the orcs of Thar and fought battle after battle against the Orc tribes. Ever since has a seething hatred for orcs (and often half-orcs) as if he blamed them for stealing him away from his home. His weapon is a flail made of cold iron with three large swinging mauls fashioned to look like baby orc heads. The handle of the fail is fashioned as a large orc leg bone. He also wears a ring that allows his to charge Cold Iron with Radiant energy for a strike. He treasures the items but claims to have forgotten how he got them.

The years of fighting and killing orcs eventually left him in a state of depression and he began drinking his unending time away. He drank away his martial skills and physical prowess and along with them, any hope for hope. That was when Li Pah found him passed out from extreme intoxication in a small row boat that floated ashore along the Moonsea. In the boat with him was Brava Toxori, who was near death from severe injuries. Li Pah (a Bearkin monk) rescued the blue lion man and the over-sized woman and brought them both back to his monastery in the Border Forest where they spent a long time convalescing.

Today his memories of all that came before his time in Nightstar Temple (wiki) are fading fast and he considers it a blessing. After several seasons of training with the monks to control his abilities and his spellscar, he ventured back out into the world with Brava.  Neither remember what happened that day, nor do they even remember each other from before that day. Brava was gravely injured and near death, Rodan was unharmed except for the high level of intoxication… The assumption is that Rodan fished Brava from the Moonsea that day, saving her life – and maybe his own.

Tanala Sola

Note:

Each shield will start at level 6. Four members of each will already be a knit group  but Marlon will add a fifth because another shield just lost two members.

Tanala was part of another shield along with Rodan and…. Well wait a min

Yisi and Valea meet Joloobo and Zoeny in cycle one. I plan on bringing Mo Ka But in at Greenest… Which means they are already a group of five – fine… The exception.

So Tanala and Rodan are already in a shield… And they lost three… Maybe those are not dead, not all… One perhaps died of Illfate… The other two just disappeared…. Find a module for the contract this shield was working on, build the three missing NPCs…

Previously I killed rodan with Illfate as a way to demonstrate what it is… Now I was Rodan and his flail alive so build another to die…

Tanala is a Sygil Dancer… I thought a sorcerer was the best class, but maybe not… Maybe a Bard? Performance and charisma is key. Perhaps a multi class bard and sorcerer?

The Sygil Dancer basically tags friends and enemies with Sygils… Some are blessings and some curses… But she needs some martial ability… Bard then… But I also want some wild magic…

Maybe I was right with the sorcerer to begin with… But a Sygil Dancer has some very bardish qualities… She is primarily about the group, like a Bard… Fights very little on her own buts excels at buffing and debuffing others… That is who Tanala is

I need to learn more about the asimar race… She is otherworldly. And again, sorcerer makes sense… What she is, she just became. Unlike a monk who trains and trains… She just is what she is… Very sorcerer like  No school, no temple, no teacher… An outcast perhaps, a mutant… Rejected by family as defective and scary. That is Tanala.

But I am a long way from playing her.. still barely half way thru cycle one, she will not be introduced until cycle four… And cycle three promises to be extensive… Still I am looking forward to playing her

Mo Ka Bu

“Many are not capable of a firm persuasion of anything.”

___________________________________
PC
: Mo Ka Bu
Mo Ka Bu is a male Wood Elf of unknown age. He is a Monk of The Way of the Arcanax. He carries only a basic Travelers pack and a small round leather shield as his weapon.

Level 03

___________________________________
Description:
Mo Ka Bu looks much older than he is, having spent years wandering desert places in search of his Way. His skin looks like sandpaper made of copper. His hair is sun-bleached  and his eyes are deep green with flecks of copper.

___________________________________
Combat Tactics
:
Mo Ka Bu fights unarmed and with his Targ (a small round leather shield) which is the length of his forearm. While the Targ is equipped, he can still throw punches with that hand, striking with the force dmg of the edge of the Targ. The shield appears small and flimsy, but it is both magical and sentient. A force field covers tusk and wings on the surface and edges of the leather.

___________________________________
Roleplaying
:
Mo Ka Bu spent many years in isolation. He will have a difficult time acting as a member of a team. He is largely quiet and when he does speak, no words are wasted, ever.

Background:

Mo Ka Bu was born in the east in a deep forest called Lluirwood (aka Long Forest) and spent much of his younger years as part of a Ghostwise village after his own home was overrun by raiding aberrations from the Toadsquat Mountains. Years later, he wandered the Raurin Desert as a solitary nomad. Along until he had a dangerous encounter with a mystical beast called the Arcanax (Inspired by Werynax). Rather than feeding off of the magic latent within the Wood Elf, the oddly shaped creature with translucent wings befriended him.

Joloobo

“Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius, and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.”

___________________________________
PC
: Joloobo
Joloobo is a male gnome of nearly 100 years. He is a Rogue Soulknife and fights with psychic blades and a magical blowgun

Level 03

___________________________________
Description:
Joloobo is just over 3 ft tall. He generally keeps his hair shaved to the scalp and wears a hooded vest of brown and deep green to blend into the forest. Aside from small satchel hanging at his side and a blowgun made of black metal, he carries nothing.

___________________________________
Combat Tactics
:
Joloobo is primarily a ranged fighter. He hides himself in trees or whatever he can find and will use the magic of his blowgun or throw psychic blades.

___________________________________
Roleplaying
:
Joloobo has spent a lot of time alone in the forest. As a result, he struggles with social contexts. He will often blurt out the wrong thing or be overly blunt (without being unkind). He is awkward and tends to be shy – except when it comes to Rayni.

___________________________________
Objective(s):

Joloobo is a troll hunter and is always seeking the next big prize. He will often refer to a “payday” after bagging a trolls blood.

___________________________________
Motivations and Temptations:

Joloobo hunts not just trolls, but any threat to the forest which might potentially have valuable blood or other parts. He is not himself an alchemist, but really enjoys spending time around one – a sprite named Rayni Honeywing. He spends most of his time searching for and hunting down trolls but his primary motivation is to be able to spend more time with Rayni. Harvesting the materials from dangerous creatures for her impresses her, and a large “payday” makes her smile. He would do anything for her smile.

___________________________________
Relationships:

Joloobo has spent nearly the past years trying to work up the courage to tell Rayni of his love for her. They both enjoy flirting with each other but Joloobo fears that she would never seek intimacy with someone not of her kind (Sprite). There are, after all, some significant differences between Gnomes and Sprites – at least that is what Joloobo tells himself.

___________________________________
Characteristics:

Traits:
Ideals:
Bonds:
Flaws:

___________________________________
Background:

Joloobo has spent a lot of time alone in the forest. As a child he knew he had dangerous abilities and so ran away from his people at a young age, thinking to protect them from his power. For many years of solitude, he suppressed his Soulknife ability. He spent nearly a century in the Wealdath with only the company of the critters and beasts. He would occasionally need to use his abilities but it wasn’t until a few years ago when he had an encounter with a Forest Troll that he decided to pursue a mastery of his Soulknife abilities.

Kildar Dalar

“For us there is no spring. Just the wind that smells fresh before the storm.”

___________________________________
PC
: Kildar Dalar
Kildar is a Goliath Barbarian of 30 years. His subclass is the Path of the Frostborn

___________________________________
Description:
Kildar is 7’5″ and over 300 lbs. He has long sandy-colored hair and dirt-brown skin with black eratic markings. His eyes are ice-blue and he likely has a smile on his face, especially if he happens to be beating you to death with his giant maul – Titans Tooth.

___________________________________
Combat Tactics
:
Kildar is a level-headed combatant. He knows the difference between a mere skirmish and a battle for his life. Both he sees as a contest and he has rules for contests. He will not take the life of anything unneccessarily, unless he is blinded by rage.

___________________________________
Roleplaying
:
Kildar is not a dumb barbarian. He is not exactly smart either and has little knowledge of the world beyond ice and mountians. Kildar is easily humored, by just about anything. He is always smiling and is quick to laugh – whether at the oddity of a situation, the commoness of an occurrence, or the face of a challenge. Kildar is not boisterous – he has no reason to be. He grew up being bullied and offended and rather than take that on as his identity, he left it behind.

___________________________________
Objective(s):

Kildar has simple desires. He wants fresh experience and fresh challenges. He has no bones to pick and no treasures to gather… just the need to live as fully as each day will allow.

___________________________________
Motivations and Temptations:

Kildar is motivated by a challenge. He might be tempted by over-reach his abilities and probably would not run away even when clearly overpowered.

___________________________________
Relationships:

Kildar did not grow up with the distinction between man and woman but his time with the Tribe of the Elk has shown him that it is part of life that must not be forsaken or ignored. It may, in fact, be among the greater challenges – to find one to be truly intimate with.

Background:

Kildar is a Goliath of nearly 7 and half feet. (Dawndra is just a couple of inches taller). He weighs over 300 lbs. His long hair unkept – the color of sand in Calimshan… or so he has been told by those who would know. In his tribe, only the women had hair on their heads, and always black. From a young age he was ridiculed for the growth of odd-colored hair. His skin is dirt-brown with grey eratic markings.  These too were a source of ridicule in his young years because they formed no discernable pattern as all the others did. Many called him a half-breed, though his mother insisted it was not so. His father had been a reknown warrior among many tribes. Laudar Thundercaller Naratrog was so respected that his mother bore the shame of Kildar’s oddities. When she was outcast, Kildar went with her. They spent two years together without a tribe in the peaks of the Spine. One day, when Kildar was still only a boy, Yeti attacked them to take their cave-home. His mother gave her life in that battle to save her outcast child.

Kildar soon found a home with the Reghedmen in the Tribe of the Elk. Knowing his story made them welcome him all the more into their ranks. He excelled in all challenges and the tribe has put him forth as their champion in the Fray Games this year.

Dawndra Norlandr

“Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.”

___________________________________
PC
: Dawndra Norlandr
Dawndra is an Arktikos, though she does not know it. She is a Monk from the Treyvigg Monastery following her unique way under tutelage… The Way of the Ice Pike. She knows nothing of her birth but lived 20 years on the isle of Norland in the Moonshaes and then has spent the past 10 years living in the Treyvigg Monastery in Amn.

Level 03

___________________________________
Description:
Dawndra is just over 7 and a half feet tall. Her skin is lightly tinted blue but is entirely covered by a fine white fur, giving her an appearance like snow-covered ice. Her pure white hair is long – nearly the length of her back – which she generally keeps tied in braid secured by a curious hairpin that appears to be made of ice. All of her life she has worn only simple cloth robes and prefers nothing at all when alone in her own company.

___________________________________
Combat Tactics
:
Dawndra is highly trained as a martial fighter and exceptionally skilled in the art of defense. In the majority of scenarios, she will prefer to take the Dodge action and rarely initiates combat herself. Her weapon of choice is the ice-born hairpin she wears. With a simple flick of will, the pin can expand to the length of her choice – up to ten feet long. When she was young, she found she could only cause it to enlarge to dagger-size, but with practice and age, she could use it like a piercing sword and then eventually the length of a spear and pike. Getting past her defenses in melee combat is difficult. She is also unwilling to kill for sport or spite. If she can accomplish submission she will show mercy to most combatants.

___________________________________
Roleplaying
:
Dawndra is stoic. She has a low charisma and is not likely to engage in word-play or theatrics. Her uncommon looks and size will tend to both fascinate and intimidate many in the realms. This does not bother her – she is likely not to even notice strange looks. When not on task, she is drawn – always – to practice. Rather than drink in a tavern, she is more likely to find a quiet spot behind the tavern to practice her forms and her breathing techniques. Her Heavens Orbit flow-form practice need only be performed for 30 minutes a day to benefit but she will often spend hours in the meditative state of flow. Dawndra is also not very worldly-wise. Like any monk recently entering the outside world beyond the monastery, much of society still does not make a lot of sense. She is not naïve however – she has been trained to trust very slowly.

___________________________________
Objective(s):

Dawndra’s primary objective is to train and test her martial skills. Beyond that, she has deep questions about her origins. She has never met another person like herself – and she has never met a person who has ever met another person like herself. The mystery is always with her.

___________________________________
Motivations and Temptations:

Dawndra is motivated by physical and martial challenge. She may be tempted to overestimate her own strengths as a result.

Dawndra is also motivated by the truth of her own existence. Being truly and obviously one of a kind in the world can be both inspiring and painful. She is unlikely to twist herself into conformity in response to her oddness, but she does face a temptation to isolate. When alone she is never out of place.

___________________________________
Relationships:

Dawndra has never had any sort of intimate relationship with another – although the inclinations have been there for many years. She spends no time thinking about this normal aspect of life

___________________________________
Characteristics:

Traits:

___________________________________
Background:

Dawndra Norlandr appears vagely human, mostly. Many mistake her for one of the Barbarian tribe women of the Savage North until they get a little closer. She has long white hair, is over 7 and a half feet tall and her face and skin is covered in a fine white fur.

Dawndra is an Arktikos, though she does not know it. No one she has ever met knows what she is or where her kind actually hails from. She was raised by a Firbolg family on Norland in the Moonshae Isles but it was always apparent she was from elsewhere.

An Urthgardt Shaman discovered her among ship wreckage along the northern coast of Norland. The Shaman could see by her size, and the odd skin covering, that she was not quite human, so he took her into the Jotunhammer Mountains and found a Firbolg family which was willing to raise her as one of theirs.

Dawndra was found wrapped in fur which was held together by a curious pin. It looked to be made of pure ice and felt icy-cold to the touch yet it never melted. No other clues were ever found to explain who, or even what, Dawndra is.

As she grew up, and as her hair grew long, she used the odd ice pin to contain it. If ever the hairpin was more than a few feet away from her, she would feel it’s gravity-like pull. No one would be able to take it and hide it from her. She discovered as a teenager that she could will it in her hands to expand into the length of a dagger and then back to a hairpin with just the thought. Soon, when she was nearing 20 years of age, the adornment would reach 8 feet long. It became a mighty spear in her hands but she knew not how to use it.

It was then she decided to leave her home on Norland Isle and seek out martial master who could teach her to wield a spear in battle with strength and prowess. She started looking for a teacher in Baldurs Gate.  She was referred to Monastery of St. Domin by a sailor and hopped on a ship to Tethyr that same day. It was a disappointment for her however as they did not appear to have the martial expertise she was looking for. She wandered the region for several months taking on whatever work she could find – which led her to working vineyards in a small winery in the Small Teeth. She spent an entire season in the hillside vineyards and living in the worker shacks before even entering Treyvigg Monstary grounds. She was amazed to find groups practicing martial forms, specificall defensive forms and – to her delight – there was a Elder spear-master there. He soon  recommended she become a novice. That was ten years ago and today she is one of the most respected Guides teaching in Treyvigg.

Dawndra did not need her teachers in the temple to over-teach her self-discipline, that came naturally to her. She is often stoic in nature but can be kind when the moment calls for it. She is willing to risk to protect or help those who need help but cares little for the expectations of others (Neutral Good). She would rather be practicing her forms over most other activities. She usually wears only the simple blue silk robes of an adept of her order.

Intro

Dawndra is sitting around the ice pit… watching the contest, waiting to be called into the second round fights. She has traveled many tendays North from Tethyr to enter the competition. The Frozenfar Fray Games contest is sponsored by the Tribe of the Bear once a year, and primarily features members of the various Reghedmen Tribes but is open to any contestant. Cost to enter the games is 100 Gold, which goes entirely to the winners pot.

There are 3 rounds:

01) The Stones Throwdown – Located in the Ten Towns – Dougan’s Hole, this battle takes place within the Stones of Thruun. Any may enter, losers may leave.

02) The Ice Pit Riot – Located in Ten Towns – Good Mead. The fighting arena is a large-sized hole dug into the frozen ground filled with water routed from the Redwaters. The battle requires that three enter the ice pit, only one leaves standing. Battles continue until all contestants fight at least one battle. The surface of the battleground is kept treacherously slick. Only winners of the Stone Throwdown may enter. Winners move on to the next round, losers leave.

03) The Frost Troll Head Roll – Located anywhere along the northern slopes of the Spine. Remaining contestants must track and battle a Frost Troll while surviving the potentially murderous ploys of the other contestants. Any returning to Easthaven with a fresh Trolls head within a tenday will share the reward pot. Any not returning likely never will.

Level 03

___________________________________
Description:
Ileel is  4ft 10in, slightly taller than her twin sister. She is 30 years old. She has long onxy-colored hair which she keeps in a tight braid. Her only garment is a black silk robe which flows around her with even the slightest breeze.

___________________________________
Combat Tactics
:
Ileel is a sniper. She prefers to fight from the shadows with her bow. If she can locate an effective blind, she will use a turn to get there, enable her Dark Mantle to shroud herself in shadow, and then attack with advantage. Starting at Tier 2, she will track her sisters attacks on the combat plane knowing that her straight sword attacks cause the opponent to become vulnerable to her Necrotic energy laced arrows.

___________________________________
Roleplaying
:
Ileel is staid and dry, but not without a sharp wit. She is, in fact, highly intelligent and perfers to observe with analysis rather than engage.  She has a dark, nearly morose, personality. Still, she is dedicated to a NG view of the world as she was raised to within the Wild Queens Forest Temple.

___________________________________
Objective(s):

Ileel is ultimately is seeking to fulfill the promises made about her by the Goddess Meilikki. She and her sister will be prime members of a new forest guard – The Vandor Aegis (Meilikkis replacement for the Shadowiers)

___________________________________
Motivations and Temptations:

Ileel is motivated by new experiences and learning to become the very best Protector she can be.

Relationships:

Ileel was raised in a monastery deep within High Forest. The only other people she had any contact with during this time were other Wood Elves – all of them female. Nothing so far has really awoken any desires for other relationships. Primarily she sees herself as part of a sisterhood – especially with her sister Leely.

Leely Roven’ris

“Oh! I just love it when the night gets pushed back and we get to see all things all new in fresh light.”

___________________________________
PC: Leely
Leely is a female Wood Elf of 30 years ago. She is a Monk of The Way of the White Circlet (a tradition specific to her own backstory). She fights with a straight sword called a Serpier (basically a Rapier with a flat and flexible blade)

Level 03

___________________________________
Description:
Leely is small and short – even for a wood elf – at 4ft 4in. She is 30 years old but is easily mistake for a child elf. She has long platinum colored hair down the backs of her legs which she prefers to let fly free. Her only garment is a white silk robe which flows around her with even the slightest breeze.

___________________________________
Combat Tactics
:
Leely is highly mobile and she prefers to dance her way around a combat field. She may strike at one opponent and, on a whim, dart to the other side of the battle ground and strike at another. She tends to think of it as a game. How many opponents can she engage without taking any damage. She is not oblivious to combat tactics either… some scenarios call for a focused attack on one or two enemies. Once she is able to attack more than once with her straight sword, she knows she is able with even the slightest nick, cause the opponent to become vulnerable to her sisters Necrotic energy laced arrows, so she will try to spread the joy as much as possible.  The reverse is true as well. Leely is aware that any enemies which have taken damage from her sister become vulnerable to her own Radiant Damage attacks, so she will often wait to unleash the extra damage until she sees her sister draw some blood from the shadows.

___________________________________
Roleplaying
:
Leely can be a bit of a ditz. She is far from dumb, but Intelligence is not a strength like it is for her sister. Leely loves new experiences and marvels at the silliest things.. a clever turn of a phrase or a new vulgarity will delight her… and she seems to have no capability of hiding her delight. She has an extremely bright personality – joyful and bubbly and optimistic.

___________________________________
Objective(s):

Leely is ultimately is seeking to fulfill the promises made about her by the Goddess Meilikki. She and her sister will be prime members of a new forest guard – The Vandor Aegis (Meilikkis replacement for the Shadowiers)
